Join us on September 2nd as we debate the cleanup of the Hudson River by the EPA and by the General Electric Corporation; we'll do an interview with Chad Nicholson, a community organizer in Portland, Maine working with Maine communities to oppose corporate water withdrawals; and we'll talk about the Amestoy federal court case from the 1990's which struck down food labeling laws as a violation of corporate constitutional First Amendment rights.

August 26, 2010 Democracy Matters

Join us on August 26th as we discuss the battle between the Democrats and Republicans for control of the U.S. House and Senate; we'll interview Bill Belitskus, a community organizer in North-Central Pennsylvania who is working with Pennsylvania communities to expand community lawmaking; and we'll talk about an 1819 case known as Dartmouth College, in which the Supreme Court declared that corporations have more rights than the communities in which they do business.

August 19, 2010 Democracy Matters

Join us on August 19th as we debate the 10th Amendment and its impacts on the Obama healthcare legislation; we'll interview Shannon Biggs, a California community organizer with Global Exchange who will tell us about California communities working to expand community rights against corporate incursions; and we'll discuss "Dillon's Rule" - a legal rule which declares that communities only have the lawmaking authority that the State chooses to give them.

August 12, 2010 Democracy Matters

Join us on August 2th as we debate the merits of the DISCLOSE Act - the Democrats' response to the Supreme Court's Citizens United ruling; we'll talk with Ami Marcus, one of the leaders of a group in Mt. Shasta, California attempting to ban corporate water withdrawals and weather manipulation; and we'll discuss the FROST case, in which residents of a small South-Central Pennsylvania community attempted to stop a quarry corporation from setting up shop.

Roundtable discussion on marijuana legalization efforts in various states; an interview with Angela Johnson, a director of the National Organization for Reform of Marijuana Laws on the recent effort to qualify an initiative on marijuana legalization in Washington State, and a discussion on corporate chartering - and how, even though state governments create corporations, that those corporations end up outside of citizen control.

We interview Mik Robertson, an activist from Pennsylvania who talks with us about communities fighting natural gas drilling on the Marcellus Shale. Lastly, we talk about the re-enslavement of African Americans after the Civil War - a hidden history.
